Day on the Green Journey Escape and Frontiers Shirts
Never imagined these two would be together here in this very spot. The Escape one (note the little flying scarab the dog is pestered by) is from the Hawkeye collection (I bid on it and lost, the buyer never paid, and the seller was kind enough to contact me to buy it after I had already bought a bunch of the others he was selling). The other is from Backstage Auctions and was pricey but never seen it before, though I do have the staff ringer version. This collecting stuff never gets old.
Rare Journey Escape promo shirt
Originally saw this one in the Herbie Herbert auction on Backstage Auctions many years ago. It came up once on eBay and they wanted $400 for it, and after pleading my case for a more rational price they never responded, it didn't sell, and then never listed it again. Part of the Hawkeye collection, it came up and I freaked out and got it. Though it is too small, and ended up kinda warped after trying to stretch it out after a wash, I am elated I finally have it.
Absurd haul of Journey Frontiers tour roadie shirts
See previous post on how giddy I am about these rare shirts from Hawkeye collection. Varilite was the lighting company for the band, and note the stains on the John Watkins Special Effects explosives shirt that I like to think were blast marks from when he got too close when the Line of Fire gunshots echoed through the town.
Absurd haul of Journey staff shirts from 80s
When you think you have seen it all, a kindly man named Hawkeye, a roadie/pyrotechnics guy for Journey decides to sell off his collection. This is what you live for as a collector. All of these made my heart race and were for the most part uncontested in eBay bidding. Luckily most folks want the mainstream stuff and don't appreciate how neat and rare these are. Will be posting other stuff from his collection in next posts.
Departure tour special artwork shirt from Flint Michigan
There are several versions of this one, but never seen this one from Atwood Stadium. According to the eBay seller, his family was in the concert promotion biz. This was never worn and aside from a tiny hole is pristine. I had another one of these but it was really misshapen. Think this version of the Hanes shirts wasnt built well for multiple washings. Its amazing.

Andy's Escape Tour Satin Jacket
Rare find here - even DaveK doesn't have it. Really beautifully embroidered jacket from the Escape tour. I have it hanging on my dining room table chair always just to enjoy its intricate and colorful designs. Got this on eBay from someone who was selling it for the owner that horsetraded it for something else. Unsure who Andy is. Believe I paid about $100 for it.

Super Stunner! Blue Escape Promo Shirt Only Seen in Internet Dreams
The only evidence of the following mysterious shirt exists is in this photo I dug up on the Internet.
See Neal's shirt. I wondered if he had that specially made or something. That is the design that is only on the back of the standard Escape tour shirts and jerseys that were never customized.
So one of these finally appeared on eBay - seller said it was from a record promoter's collection of stuff, so I figure that they were handed out here and there to those kinda big wigs. Its the only one I have ever seen and cannot believe its here. I am a big fan of that beetle logo and always wanted that on the front of the shirt, but the only one they did that for was the sleeveless muscle shirt from the Frontiers tour. Hard to wear that one in public without feeling like a dick.
The back is blank, so you know.

Completely Freaky Journey Frontiers Hawaii Road Crew V-neck Shirt
Looks like another roadie sold off a really crazy collection of rare rock memorabilia in Fall of 2014 on eBay. Some especially rare Journey stuff came up (some I already have) but I love when these guys sell things because you end up seeing things you never knew existed. As in this teal sea blue v-neck shirt based on the main shirt sold to fans at the 1983 Frontiers tour shows in Hawaii.
I love when this kinda stuff pops up - its what keeps a fella collecting after all these years. Its super cool and I will take it on any beach vacation I ever go on moving forward. Seller had a starting bid of $75 - I was the only bidder. Note the color varies by shot. The actual color most closely matches the closeups

1977 Infinity Tour Road Crew Shirt Auction Buy
Ever since I missed out on most items in Herbie Herbert's Backstage Auctions selloff, I have been keeping an eye out for Journey stuff in subsequent ones. This cool find came up in 2013 and was able to get it for around $40. Nice road crew shirt to kick off the tour. I included a pic of "The Shirtery" tag as it is the only shirt I have with that brand tag.
Never seen this shirt anywhere before on eBay or nothin' so thinking that its pretty rare.

Stunner! Florida Escape tour shirt finally found - Collection is complete
Here it is. Possibly rarer than the rarest of Journey shirts. I saw the Lakeland Civic Center shirt from 1981 only once before in a lot of shirts on eBay back in the early 2000s. Didn't buy them all then as the price was high and I figured it would come up again soon. Well, its been over 10 years since another showed up - I couldn't believe it when I saw it. Seemed unreal. Unfathomable even. I doublechecked it real fast to make sure it wasnt a fake or anything, and hit the Buy it Now button for $87. Listing said it was from a record exec's collection. So, so glad that exec decided to part with this kind of stuff. I am still amazed that I have it.
And as you can see, the group is now complete. These are the four shirts from 1981 that feature the distinctive Journey Escape font tilted on its side: includes the Seattle shirt, the Dallas and Houston shows, and the Syracuse show. There is no way in hell you will ever see these four shirts together anywhere else.
